Looking ahead to March

I've signed myself up for Zoe's Me-Made March! Now I'm not sure if it's the brightest idea considering I haven't even been sewing for two months yet, but in those two months I have sewn up a bit of a storm and if I continue then I reckon I'll be able to do it! I've pledged to wear at least one item of handmade/refashioned clothing each day in March, though I'll try and wear more than one if possible! So I've been having a think about what clothes I currently have and what I might need. For example, I have no me-made tops and if I want to wear jeans at all in March then I'll need to either make some tops or refashion some. I've been having a think about this and I would love to make a blouse if I can find a nice pattern, I've already found some lovely lilac pinspot chiffon type material from Fabricland I'd like to use for it. I'm also thinking that I might have a go at refashioning some t-shirts, I found a few tutorials for adding peter pan collars (my favourite) to tops and dresses so I'm going to have a go at that so I have some tops to wear with jeans and any non me-made skirts I own. I'll be honest and say that I'm far more of a dress girl (have you noticed?!) because I'm pretty useless at putting outfits together and with a statement dress you don't need to make too much of an effort!

So far the items I've made or refashioned and have at my disposal for March are:
Blue Burda dress
Grey 'disaster' dress
Pink houndstooth dress
Purple skirt
Heart print dress
Floral 'maxi to mini' dress

So that's six already and the red skirt I originally cut out for my heart print dress is hopefully going to be made into a red circle skirt so that'll be another addition. There's twenty days left of February and I can keep making throughout March so it should be ok! I'm home next week with no lectures and no real plans so I should be able to get my sewing hat wedged on and get some more items made!

Ooooh and also, hi to all my new followers and everyone that's taken the time to comment recently :)

  1. Wow, you've made lots! My me-made items are currently at the grand total of 1 skirt! (the rest has been cut up and re-used for practice garments or just thrown away!) lol I should really get around to photographing it for my blog! :) I can't wait to see what else you get together :)

  2. Good luck Lucy!

Looks like you've planned what you need to make well. That's what I lack most (apart from time) is a decent plan of what to make.

  3. Wow, you're ambitious (in all the best ways!) I'm horrible about sewing things for myself.
